Iowa’s crop story includes 9.45 million acres planted to soybeans in 2025, alongside 13.55 million acres of corn.
USDA NASS reports nearly 596 million bushels of soybeans from Iowa’s 2025 harvest. The Iowa Department of Agriculture’s January 2026 summary also reports a soybean yield of 63.5 bushels per acre. The crop is a local starting point for explaining a food people may not connect with farming.

Soybeans serve many markets. Food-grade varieties and supply chains connect suitable beans to tofu makers. State crop totals do not tell us how much becomes tofu, and this campaign does not establish the origin of any particular product.
