More than ten million acres planted to soybeans put Illinois agriculture at the heart of this story.
In 2025, Illinois farmers planted 10.3 million acres of soybeans and harvested 10.23 million. That scale makes the soybean a familiar part of the state’s agricultural landscape. Connecting tofu to its main ingredient gives people another way to recognize the crop behind a food.

Soybeans serve many markets. Food-grade varieties and supply chains connect suitable beans to tofu makers. State crop totals do not tell us how much becomes tofu, and this campaign does not establish the origin of any particular product.
